Sandy Hook Shooter Suffered from Lyme disease?

Having personally treated over 7,000 patients with brain disorders, I have met many young men with personality profiles like that of Adam Lanza. These patients often admit they are trying to control a rage they don’t understand. They say, “Doctor Sponaugle, I feel like my brain is going to explode like it’s plugged into an electrical outlet.”

They feel like crushing something or killing someone for no good reason, they just feel a need to inflict pain on someone, anyone! Why?

Dr Rick Sponaugle Explains Mold Toxins & Lyme Toxins

My clinical research has proven that most rage-filled patients suffer from a brain that is severely over-electrified because it is full of toxins, usually Mold toxins and Lyme toxins. All Americans suffer some degree of brain saturation with fatty toxins from pesticides, food toxins, and industrial toxins. Because our brain is the fattiest organ in our body, 60 percent of fat, fatty toxins, after entering our body, migrate to and deposit in the brain. This phenomenon is called neurotoxicity.

Adam Lanza likely suffered from Excito-neurotoxicity.

The more toxins the brain accumulates, the higher the brain’s electrical voltage. When the toxic load inside of the brain becomes exceedingly high, patients like Adam suffer from a phenomenon called excito-neurotoxicity, abnormally high levels of electrical current flowing through the brain. Excito-neurotoxicity causes anxiety, panic disorder, and, when severe, uncontrollable rage.

What differentiates a mild level of neurotoxicity suffered by the average American as compared to a more severe level capable of causing rage, in my patients, has proven to be Mold Toxicity and Lyme disease.

A subset of Americans, particularly red-headed, fair-skinned people like Adam Lanza, often have genetics that prevents them from effectively removing Mold toxins and Lyme toxins.

Neurotoxicity Vs. Bipolar Disorder – Misdiagnose Issue

Dr. Rick Sponagule, MD personally treated over 2,000 patients who, because of rage issues, were previously misdiagnosed by Psychiatrists as having a genetic Bipolar disorder when in fact, their rage issues were caused by a brain full of toxins. The majority of these patients suffered from a combination of severe Mold toxicity and Neuro-Lyme disease, in addition to a Bartonella co-infection.

Kevin, one of the many “bipolar” patients I’ve treated, was misdiagnosed by the best, Psychiatrists at Johns Hopkins University. At age 15, Kevin’s mother, a pediatric nurse, took him to Johns Hopkins looking for answers as to why his sweet personality changed to a kid with anger and rage. Whether Hopkins, Duke, Stanford, or the psychiatrist down the street, they are quick to throw out a diagnosis based on symptoms; rarely do psychiatrists look, or the medical disorders causing the surge of psychiatric diseases in America.

Fortunately, by age 20, Kevin became addicted to OxyContin while attempting to calm his anxious brain; because his medical parents sought more scientific addiction treatment, Kevin and his family finally got a proper diagnosis. After several weeks of treatment for Mold Toxicity, Lyme disease, and Bartonella, Kevin once again became a tender and gentle-spirited young man.* I have often told Kevin I hope he uses the pain of 5 years of misdiagnosis to become a compassionate physician.

When psychiatrists fail to diagnose neurotoxicity in their anxious patients, over time, those patients accumulate additional brain toxins, and eventually, the patient’s symptoms progress from anxiety to panic disorder, and in severe cases, uncontrollable rage.

Sandy Hook Shooter Adam Lanza Historical Behavior

I feel strongly Adam internalized these feelings as long as he could. Going back two years ago, Adam already suffered from severe anxiety. When called into the limelight to have his senior picture taken, he couldn’t do it; he was a no-show.

As his brain continued to become saturated with bio-toxins, Adam’s anxiety and detachment would have progressively worsened, he would have progressed into a state of panic, and then, when he could no longer contain it, explode in an outward fashion, as he did, with uncontrollable rage.

Neurotoxicity Symptoms: Detachment

When severely neurotoxic patients develop a phenomenon called detachment, they feel disconnected from this world and the people in it, even their families. They become detached from their own emotions and feelings. According to a fellow student, going back a few years ago, teachers had asked the students not to hurt Adam on the soccer field because he could not feel his own pain.

Psychiatrists who are naïve regarding neurotoxicity will quickly suggest that patients can develop severe detachment as a defense mechanism when they have been physically, verbally, or sexually abused. Agreed; however, we have no indication Adam was abused.

As Adam suffered increasing neurotoxicity each year, he would have become more detached and less engaged outside of his home; therefore, in the last couple of years, since his high school graduation, he probably spent more time in isolation, in a home that may have had hidden mold or a musty basement, a home that most likely played a role in his “brain pain.”

Did Adam Lanza suffer from misdiagnosed Lyme Disease?

I sincerely believe the likelihood that Adam suffered from undiagnosed Lyme disease is extremely high. I diagnose Lyme disease in 95 percent of my patients with Adam’s personality profile. The Lyme spirochete migrates to the brain within 12 hours of a tick or mosquito bite. I have extensive Lyme practice and rarely see panic disorder and Asperger’s patients who don’t have Lyme infections.

Adding probability that Adam had Lyme disease is that he lived by the woods in Connecticut, the first state in which Lyme was initially diagnosed in 1975. Progressive physicians know that Connecticut is endemic with Lyme and Bartonella, yet, I seriously doubt Adam’s Psychiatrists considered Lyme or Bartonella a possible etiology of Adam’s psychological problems.

Sadly, American Psychiatrists, as a group, are ignorant as compared to European Psychiatrists regarding the fact that Lyme disease is a frequent cause of psychological disorders. Multiple studies have proven that Lyme and Bartonella are responsible for causing Autistic Spectrum disorders.

What did the media miss about Adam Lanza’s health characteristics?

Another factor, TV “experts” failed to notice or mention that Adam had the classic hyperthyroidism look. Adam’s facial features, as seen in his latest pictures, are textbook for the classic “bug-eye” look of hyperthyroidism. Adam also has a skinny body build that is a classic for a patient with undiagnosed hyperthyroidism. I suspect Adam could always eat twice as much as others yet, never gain weight.

Undiagnosed Hyperthyroidism

Undiagnosed hyperthyroidism, even without Neurotoxicity, can cause severe panic disorder and rage! Any extra surge of the brain’s electrical current from untreated hyperthyroidism would greatly exacerbate rage in a neurotoxic patient.

I generally diagnose 30 new patients a year with undiagnosed Hyperthyroidism-overactive-thyroid-300x260hyperthyroidism. They usually are younger kids in their twenties like Adam. Most are using OxyContin and Xanax to calm anxiety disorders; young kids don’t “doctor” like their parents; they use drugs from their friends to balance their brain’s electrical activity.

Asperger’s syndrome: Patient behavior

It is important to note that the typical Asperger’s patient does not exhibit outward rage unless they suffer undiagnosed neurotoxicity or have suffered a severe brain injury in their temporal lobes. Without the neurotoxicity factor “ramping up” the brain’s “electrical voltage,” an Asperger’s patient is likelier to exhibit signs of social anxiety, as Adam did in high school. Fellow students suggest he was quiet, shy, and uncomfortable in social settings.

Asperger-syndrome

I suspect before Adam’s neurotoxicity reached a critical level, his personality was that of a typical Asperger’s patient, a quiet loner, introspective and hyper-focused on things he liked, to the point of appearing aloof. He may have been irritable and moody, but I seriously doubt he was the least bit aggressive.

Based on my experience treating kids with Asperger’s, I suspect Adam was a sickly kid who had quite a few rounds of antibiotics from his pediatricians. My clinical research has matched the brain scans of Asperger’s patients with specific brain chemistry deficiencies derived from antibiotic-induced gut toxicity.

Overactive Deep Limbic System and Social Anxiety

Patients with antibiotic-induced intestinal overgrowth of Candida suffer specific neurotransmitter deficiencies that cause overactivity in a brain region called the deep limbic system. It is the overactive deep limbic system that causes severe social anxiety, a hallmark of Asperger’s.

A Sponaugle-ism is that patients with an overactive deep limbic system will look at the floor when talking to people, as I’m sure Adam often did. Avoiding eye contact prevents “letting people in, a defense mechanism to assure safety – remember, the eyes are the window to the soul!

Buttoning his shirt to the top, as Adam supposedly did, is another subconscious “security” trait I often see in Asperger’s patients. The typical Asperger’s patient works hard to “avoid attracting attention.” The last thing a typical Asperger’s patient would do is waltz into a schoolhouse full of people and, in Schwarzenegger style, start unloading an assault rifle, UNLESS their brain suffered a level of neurotoxicity that I have only seen with Neuro-Lyme and Mold Toxicity.

Could this mass shooting have been prevented?

In summary, there has been much focus on gun control since the Sandy Hook shootings. While putting a stop to the easy sale of assault rifles is a warranted endeavor, I believe the more important focus should be on the failure of America’s mental health system to diagnose and treat patients like Adam Lanza properly. This is not only my professional opinion; this is also expressed in the 114-page report produced by a panel convened by the Connecticut State Office of the Child Advocate, as featured in this NY Times article about Adam Lanza.

America’s Psychiatrists have got to come out of the Freudian dark ages; they can no longer remain ill-knowledgeable regarding the fact that environmental toxicity, which is ever-increasing, and brain infections from emerging epidemics of Lyme disease and Bartonellosis, are becoming more prevalent in the causation of psychiatric disorders. Until the field of Psychiatry advances with modern neuroscience, misdiagnosed patients like Adam Lanza will go untreated and commit more mass murders every decade.
