Lyme Disease Treatment Testimonial

Thea's Story of Healing from Lyme Disease & Mold Toxicity

Thea Wucher is an exceptionally kind-hearted 17-year-old girl living in Timmins, Ontario. She was very active in her community throughout her childhood raising money for others & donating to charities that were dear to her heart.

Her goal was to raise money each year for different causes. She was recognized in 2009 and received The Timmins Community Pride Award for Young Volunteers. Who would have foreseen that less than one year later she herself would become stricken with some ‘unknown’ illness that would slowly eat away at almost every aspect of her busy life?

Thea’s mother describes, “As parents, it is unimaginably heartbreaking to watch your child become so sick with every passing year and not be able to help. Thea has been left almost completely housebound and bed-bound for the last 2 years…many times too weak to even stand or speak. She misses her friends, school, and sports. She had lost most of her childhood and teenage years. Thea was leading a life of just existing.

Throughout all of these struggles, Thea has amazed her family with her inner strength and positive attitude…she is a fighter. This 7-year journey has been spent searching for answers. A break came last summer when Thea saw an environmental doctor. Because the blood tests revealed a few bacteria, we were advised to have a blood sample sent down to California for Lyme testing. These results came back positive for Lyme disease but not a recent infection. This means Thea had been suffering from Chronic Lyme Disease and Tick-Borne Infections. We were relieved to have an answer finally.

Treatment at Sponaugle Wellness

Thea’s Lyme and other co-infections in her body lead to seizures and other debilitating symptoms. Thea began treatment at Sponaugle Wellness Institute in February 2017, and we are happy to report that by June 2017, Thea will be on the road to recovery. Thea’s energy has increased, and she is doing the things she loves, like rock climbing.

Thea previously tested negative for Lyme disease in Canada. We quickly learned that testing standards in Canada are outdated and produce many false negatives.

We were then armed with the knowledge that Chronic Lyme & Tick Born Infections may very well be the root cause of Thea’s worsening health. That was a relief, but also terrifying for us as a family, because Canada does not provide treatment for Chronic Lyme Disease. This forced us to seek treatment for Thea in the United States at a private clinic. OHIP ( Ontario Health Insurance Plan) will not cover this medical cost because the Canadian Health Care System refuses to acknowledge that Chronic Lyme Disease exists. We had felt let down by our health care system. How could they abandon a sick child?

After speaking with someone in Ontario, who underwent Lyme treatment at Sponaugle Wellness Institute last summer we decided to temporarily move to Florida to obtain treatment for Thea.”
