A spirochete is a type of bacterium characterized by its unique corkscrew or spiral shape. This shape allows the spirochete to move effectively through various environments, including human tissues.

Terry Beatley Lyme Disease Interview

Dr. Sponaugle Discusses Lyme with Terry Beatley America Out Loud

He is the leading doctor in the world for advances in treating chronic illness, and his creds include getting 35 people out of wheelchairs and walking again. That’s my kind of doctor – he is in the business of healing, not merely writing prescriptions.

“Just wait until the 60-minute mark when the red blood cells begin to die. See what happens then. But in the meantime, I will count these squiggly-shaped structures called spirochetes and these round ball-shaped structures called cysts.” While tallying two dozen or so, he asked my daughter if she had ever had sex because the bacteria he was counting looked very similar to the bacteria which causes syphilis—a sexually-transmitted disease.

After hearing her negative response, he inquired if she has ever been bitten by a tick, horsefly, or mosquito? Her answer: “Dozens and dozens of times.”

The physiologist continued, “I cannot diagnose you with a disease; that would be illegal for me to do. I can only tell you what I see in your blood. Since you have never had sex, there are only one other known bacteria that looks like this. It is called Borrelia burgdorferi. It is commonly associated with Lyme disease contracted through tick, mosquito, and horsefly bites.”

After six years of searching for answers, including four false-negative Lyme tests, I felt relief. I had suspected Lyme for quite some time, but I had no way of proving it to my daughter’s doctors. Now I did. We were finally getting answers, and as the red blood cells died at 60 minutes, Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria emerged from almost every cell in its search for another live host.

The questions didn’t stop, though. “Do you ever have cold hands or cold feet?” We chuckled. She frequently washed her cold, clammy feet in the bathtub before bedtime.

“How about achiness and brain fog?” To my surprise, my daughter explained how for the past six months, she has felt like her eyelids were heavy, mind foggy, and just recently had begun with blurred vision. Having been engrossed in seeking a cure for her aching elbow and muscle achiness, I had not been told of this new symptom. It must have seemed the least of her concerns.

The physiologist positioned a large splotch of something from my daughter’s blood on the microscope monitor. He explained that this image was a piece of biofilm, a slimy substance that provides a perfect environment for multiplication of bacteria and a highly resistant environment to antibiotics because the antibiotic can’t penetrate the slimy barrier. The biofilm attracts other bacteria, chemical toxins, and mold spores, which get stuck in the biofilm preventing the body from detoxing the contaminants. The longer one has been infected with the bacteria, the thicker the biofilm is.

Unfortunately, the contaminants don’t sit passively in this biofilm. The germs, mold, and chemicals release toxins affecting the body in many different ways. Because the biofilm takes up residency in fatty tissue, like the brain, fogginess develops.

After we got answers from the physiologist, my husband and I began searching for the best doctor in America who understands the complexity of Lyme and biofilm. At that time, we knew nothing about Trichothecene and chemical toxins. That was about to change because by the grace of God and America Out Loud’s “The Misdiagnosed Life” show with host Beverly Butler, we found Marvin Sponaugle, M.D. of the Sponaugle Wellness Institute in Oldsmar, Florida.

Host Beverly Butler interviews Dr. Sponaugle.

He is a genius and will go down in medical history like Jonas Salk and Louis Pasteur. Unlike most doctors I had taken my daughter to, he understood what God says in the book of Leviticus Chapter 17:11 that “…the life of the flesh is in the blood….”

In addition to a researcher’s mind and an insatiable thirst for knowledge, Dr. Sponaugle has personal experience. About a decade earlier, his daughter had become severely sick with Lyme disease and traditional antibiotic treatment, and he had suffered chronic fatigue because of exposure to Trichothecene (black mold) growing, unbeknownst to him, behind the sheetrock in his hospital office. This combination of personal experience and a curious mind has helped him pursue the connection between Trichothecene-induced brain/gut toxicity to tick-borne illnesses, depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, drug addiction, and so many other disorders on the rise. He is the leading doctor in the world for advances in treatments, and his creds include getting 35 people out of wheelchairs and walking again. That’s my kind of doctor – he is in the business of healing, not merely writing prescriptions.

Dr. Sponaugle is all about the numbers – the raw data. He studies 500-600 different markers in the blood and urine before the first appointment with the patient. Of course, we only thought our daughter had Lyme disease, but his research revealed far more.

She is among the 25% of the population genetically predisposed to being unable to detox properly from mold and tick-borne infections. The blood and urine labs indicated that she must have been exposed to Trichothecene, i.e., black mold, which compromised her liver from producing glutathione – the most potent antioxidant.

At high enough levels for a long enough period, Trichothecene affects the body in dozens of ways, including shutting down the pituitary gland; destroying the gut lining causing leaky gut, which leads to a list of inflammatory conditions; damaging the myelin sheath, which causes multiple sclerosis; wearing down the immune system so that the fighter cells are reduced leaving one susceptible to infections and cancer; and, of course, under this compromised immune condition, it is an invitation for parasites and protozoa.

Along with Lyme came the coinfections called Bartonella, which causes numbness in the extremities, and Babesia, which enlarges the red blood cells, making one feel winded and tired because the cells can’t transport oxygen as the cells should. This answered why our daughter was so winded playing basketball and intermittent neuropathy in her hands– Babesia + Bartonella + Borrelia burgdorferi!

The blood work from day two at the clinic contrasted against the blood work before the first treatment, proving that Dr. Sponaugle was busting biofilm. As a profound example, I will share what happened in measuring Diethylphosphate (DEP), one of the most toxic substances in the world and primarily found in pesticide formulations.

The Great Plains Laboratory Toxic Non-Metal Chemical Profile, which measures levels of 18 chemical families, spoke volumes. June’s blood showed that DEP was non-detected. Two days after treatment, though, DEP measured in the 95 percentile! Her levels increased in eight categories and decreased in ten categories.

In summary, so many people are being misdiagnosed, prescribed pharmaceuticals, and enduring unnecessary surgeries — and sometimes institutionalized with schizophrenia and more — because doctors don’t understand the root cause: how Trichothecene affects the body. Doctors are slapping labels on people —like fibromyalgia — and writing anti-depressant prescriptions. I’m thankful that I ripped up the anti-depressant prescription from the top John Hopkins Pediatric Neurologist four years ago. If I hadn’t, we might not have real answers today!

My daughter is entering her eighth week of treatment, and we are so encouraged that God answered our prayers. We hope that her healing journey will help other people across the nation and that doctors will be more open to learning new advances in healthcare. Creating a paradigm shift in how we approach healthcare requires tenacity, patience, and researchers like Marvin Sponaugle, M.D., who can…

…THINK AND THEN ACT OUTSIDE THE PROVERBIAL BOX.
